Ukraine Jitters Send Stocks Lower In Afternoon Trade

The stock market finished lower Tuesday for the third time in four days amid reports of a Russian military build-up along the Ukraine border and President Vladimir Putin’s preparations to retaliate against the U.S. and Europe for economic sanctions imposed on Russia. The Nasdaq fell 0.7%; the S&P 500 dropped 1% and the Dow Jones industrial average was off 0.8%. Volume was higher on both exchanges, according to preliminary data.
