A slew of department stores ranging from Macy’s (NYSE: M) to J.C. Penney (NYSE: JCP) to Nordstrom (NYSE: JWN) reported their first-quarter results last week. Comp sales declined across the board, but several department stores still managed to improve their earnings on a year-over-year basis.
