Papa John’s (NASDAQ: PZZA) has been able to force its mediocre (at best) pizza down America’s throats at least in part by associating with sports. While rival Domino’s (NYSE: DPZ) generally pushes speed and convenience in its ads, many Papa John’s commercials feature CEO John Schnatter hobnobbing with athletes such as Peyton Manning and Joe Montana.
