OECD’s Gurria says Japan should shift to taking more structural policy steps

OECD secretary-general  Angel Gurria out on Reuters.
– believes Japan has room to gradually raise sales tax to 15% over time
– should raise tax to help pay for rising welfare spending
Much conjecture about next year’s planned sales tax hike to 10% from current 8%. OECD don’t carry a lot of weight but their comments won’t go unnoticed.
