Stocks were trading lower in mid-afternoon trading Tuesday, not far off the day’s lows. The Nasdaq lost 1.2%; the S&P 500 dropped 0.6% and the Dow Jones industrial average was flat in the stock market today. Volume was running slightly higher on the NYSE and 12% higher on the Nasdaq compared with the same time Monday. The Dow was held up by DuPont (DD), up nearly 10% on the news that CEO Ellen Kullman is retiring.
