Stocks extended their losses in early afternoon trading, just one day after ending a bad September on a positive note. The Nasdaq and Dow Jones industrial average were down 1.1% each, while the S&P 500 fell 0.9%. Volume was tracking higher across the board vs. the same time Wednesday.
