Outerwall’s Redbox Profits, Despite Price Increase

The Persian word “kushk” is said to mean both palace and portico. In English, the term became kiosk — first applied to 19th-century newsstands, then British phone booths. Today, consumers know a Redbox kiosk as a place to go to rent DVDs of movies. Redbox parent Outerwall (OUTR) owns more than 43,000 of the devices in North America.
