The Wall Street Journal: FIFA paid Ireland €5 million compensation for missed handball call in 2010 World Cup qualifier

FIFA said Thursday that it quietly paid Ireland €5 million (about $7 million at the time) as compensation for missing out on the 2010 World Cup after the game’s referee failed to call a handball by France’s Thierry Henry.
