Real estate investment trusts have taken a beating the past few months amid fears that higher interest rates will lower their appeal. But REITs have gotten a boost in recent sessions from strong earnings reports and from Friday’s nonfarm payrolls report for April, which suggested that the economy is improving but not at a rate fast enough for the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates soon.
