Chipmakers hammered out a reasonably solid session Thursday while the broader market ran in place. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index added 1.3%, with nearly a third of its 30 stocks posting gains of 2% or more. SanDisk (SNDK) jumped 2% to lead the index in early trade, rising further from its April 1 low.
