Apparel retailers have climbed quickly through IBD’s industry ranks in recent weeks amid a pickup in economic growth and rising consumer confidence. The 46-stock Retail-Apparel/Shoes & Accessories group is up 16% since mid-October. That helps to explain why it has gained 36 places in the past six weeks, to No. 12 on Friday out of the 197 groups tracked by IBD.
