Small-cap stocks and mutual funds have taken it on the chin recently, but fund managers and strategists are already pecking at bargains. The iShares Russell 2000 (IWM) fund, which tracks the widely followed small-stock benchmark, is off 5% this year. Its big-cap cousin, iShares Russell 1000 (IWB), is up 8%. Likewise, all three flavors of small-cap stock mutual funds — growth, value and core — have lost ground this year.
