Are Options FIFO?
I thought options were FIFO but I’m not so sure anymore. The other day I was trading options on C and saw some weird things happen when I would undercut the bid or ask (suddenly tons of options swarming in on the new bid or ask, and then suddenly dissappearing when I took mine out — usually always the same number).
Another thing — at the end of the day I notice really horrible fills on options that I’m monitoring. I’ve seen people pay 50% too much or getting a really bad price for a…

I am trying to make sense of VIX futures settlement vs close data. While I understand the definition of settlement vs close I am not able to wrap my head around their published data.
Please see attached file. This is Jan 2017 VIX futures contract. Why is there a settlement on 4-25-2016 before the contract opens for trading on 4-26-2016?

Following a series of procedural votes yesterday to invoke the so-called ‘nuclear option’, the Senate is expected to vote shortly to confirm Neil Gorsuch as the 113th justice to serve on the Supreme Court.
Given the rule changes implemented yesterday, Republicans require only a simple majority vote to confirm Gorsuch, and with Republicans holding a 52-48 majority in the Senate, today’s vote is all but a foregone conclusion. And while it will mostly be a partisan vote, 3 Democrats are also expected to support Gorsuch for a final vote tally of 55-45.
