President Barack Obama nominated Judge Merrick Garland, the chief judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, to the Supreme Court. Seen by many as a moderate, Garland supervised investigations in the Unabomber case as well as the Oklahoma City bombing.
