In a press conference at the White House’s Rose Garden Wednesday morning, President Obama announced his nomination of Merrick Garland, Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, to fill the Supreme Court seat left vacant by Justice Antonin Scalia’s death in February.
