Lockheed Martin Corp said on Thursday that U.S. officials have approved its $9 billion takeover of Black Hawk helicopter maker Sikorsky Aircraft from United Technologies Corp. In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the company said authorities in Japan and South Korea had also approved the deal, but it was waiting for other regulatory approvals. Multiple sources familiar with the matter said Lockheed was now likely to close the acquisition well before the end of the year, as initially expected.

WASHINGTON/MONTREAL (Reuters) – Canada’s Bombardier Inc (BBDb.TO) expects to complete the final certification testing of its smaller new CSeries narrow-body commercial jet by the week of Nov. 23, a key milestone toward the plane being certified, four sources briefed on the plan said. The Montreal-based manufacturer declined on Thursday to confirm the testing schedule, but said it still expects certification of the 110-seater CS100 by year’s end, followed by the jet’s entry into service in the first half of 2016.

U.S. business investment fell slightly in August, excluding spending on aircraft and defense equipment, but new home sales rose, suggesting that global economic headwinds were doing little to impede U.S. growth. The U.S. economy is on track to grow 1.4 percent in the third quarter, the Atlanta Federal Reserve’s GDPNow forecast model showed on Thursday. The recent trend in orders gives a good signal for economic growth in the third quarter after business investment on equipment fell in the April-June period.
