Stocks put in a big-time comeback Tuesday, retaking all of Monday’s losses and then some amid more earnings reports, mixed economic data and the start of a two-day Fed meeting. The S&P 500 jumped 1.2% and the Nasdaq rallied 1%. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones industrial average gained 1.1%. All three rose for the first time in six trading sessions. Volume ended higher across the board in the stock market today, according to preliminary data.
