Exclusive: Alzheimer’s group may scrap early look at coveted Lilly data
Shares of Lilly have jumped 7 percent this week, largely on Wall Street expectations that favorable long-term effectiveness data could emerge from the study of solanezumab, an injectable drug with potential to become the first approved treatment to delay progression of Alzheimer’s. A spokesman for the Alzheimer’s Association told Reuters on Thursday that the abstracts, summaries of clinical trial data to be presented at the meeting, could be posted within a few days on a special website for those registered for the event.

Twitter seeks new CEO, and more users, as Costolo exits
Twitter Inc’s announcement that Dick Costolo would exit as CEO on July 1 was long on plaudits but offered few clues on how the company will tackle its biggest problem: user growth. Twitter’ shares were down 0.6 percent in early afternoon trading on Friday, after rising much as 3.9 percent just after the opening, as investors assessed the company’s prospects. Analysts said Twitter has an uncertain future unless it can reverse slowing user growth by introducing new features that will help it win a bigger chunk of the digital advertising market from rivals such as Facebook Inc.

U.S. consumer confidence jumps; producer prices increase
U.S. consumer confidence surged in early June on expectations that a tightening labor market would spur big wage raises, which could further stimulate spending and overall economic growth later this year. The rise in sentiment came despite higher gasoline prices, which contributed to producer prices recording their biggest increase in more than 2-1/2 years in May. Strong consumer confidence, together with a tightening labor market, bullish retail sales and firming inflation pressures may provide the Federal Reserve reassurance about the U.S.

Record order books turn focus to jetmakers’ production
After years of big-ticket plane orders, next week’s Paris Airshow will see rather fewer multi-billion-dollar deals and rather more nervous expressions as planemakers face the daunting task of producing $1.8 trillion of jets already sold. The world’s biggest aerospace gathering will still have its fair share of announcements, including a potential 100-plane leasing order for Boeing, as well as the showmanship that goes with any public contest with European arch-rival Airbus.

Google launches a YouTube built for gamers
More than 25,000 games will each have their own page on the site, bringing videos and live streams about various titles together in a single space, Google said. “When you want something specific, you can search with confidence, knowing that typing “call” will show you “Call of Duty” and not “Call Me Maybe,” Google said in a blog post. Amazon bought Twitch Interactive last year for $970 million, beating a rival bid from Google.

Michael Kors settles U.S. lawsuit alleging deceptive price tags
Michael Kors Holdings Ltd (KORS.N) agreed to pay $4.88 million and change its sales practices to settle a class action lawsuit claiming it used deceptive price tags at its outlet stores to fool shoppers into believing they were getting big bargains. Shoppers said the suggested retail prices were artificial because the tagged products had been made exclusively for Michael Kors outlets, and the London-based fashion house never intended to sell them at those prices.

U.S. officials say Takata air bag likely involved in fatal crash
The top U.S. auto safety regulator said on Friday a ruptured Takata Corp (7312.T) air bag was likely involved in the April 5 car crash that killed a 22-year-old Louisiana woman, which would make her death the seventh linked to an air bag defect. Kylan Rae Langlinais died four days after her 2005 Honda Civic struck a utility pole in an early morning accident, according to a lawsuit filed by her family this week in U.S. District Court. The suit alleges that the vehicle’s driver-side Takata air bag exploded, sending shards of metal into the passenger compartment and severing her carotid artery.
