Heading into the final hour of trade Wednesday, the major stock indexes were gunning for their best gain in almost three weeks. The Nasdaq pounded 1.2% higher amid the day’s trading range of up 0.5% to up 1.3%. The S&P 500 ran 1.2% higher, as did the Dow Jones industrial average. Volume was running lower on both major exchanges in the stock market today.
