Stocks across a variety of industries broke out into new high ground Wednesday. Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) reversed higher and surged 1.53, or 4%, to 39.16, clearing a 38.35 buy point in heavy trade. The stock is now 2% above the entry and at its highest level in more than three years. Late Tuesday, the PC maker reported fiscal Q4 earnings in line with views and revenue that missed.
