Refuting The (Consensus) Bull Case
Excerpted from Elliott Management’s Paul Singer letter to investors,
The consensus (bull) case:
The power of psychology is overwhelming, and investor sentiment indicates that the Fed can be trusted, that asset prices are being driven higher by QE and ZIRP, and that we should not worry too much about the unintended consequences, because the Fed will be able to follow a path to normalization and a soft landing. America, in any event, is the safe haven and always will be.

Quiet Session Sees Mild Distribution Day For S&P 500
Major averages ended near session highs Tuesday in an otherwise lackluster session. Volume fell on the Nasdaq and rose on the NYSE. The S&P 500 notched its first distribution day since a follow-through confirmed a new uptrend Oct. 21. But similar to the Nasdaq’s Oct. 29 higher-volume decline, distribution was mild. The Nasdaq lost 0.3% but finished near the top of its intraday range. The S&P 500 also fell 0.3% but ended near its high.
