Ten years ago, Walt Disney Co, having fended off a hostile bid from Comcast, had to make a case why it was better off as an independent company. Disney’s shares have soared more than 250 percent since. Now, Time Warner Inc Chief Executive Jeff Bewkes faces a similar moment of reckoning after rejecting a bid for $85 a share from Rupert Murdoch’s Twenty-First Century Fox. Bewkes and other top brass will be under pressure at a meeting with analysts and investors next Wednesday to show they can repeat Disney’s magic.

“GT believes that it has many claims against Apple arising out of its business relationship with Apple,” the company said in a filing with the U.S. The company said it could not pursue the unspecified claims at the outset of its bankruptcy, but that the claims would allow GT Advanced to terminate several Apple agreements that it said were burdensome and of no value. Apple responded by pointing to its earlier statement that it remains committed to preserving jobs in Arizona and was consulting with state and local officials on its next steps.

Regulators from the United States and the United Kingdom will get together in a war room next week to see if they can cope with any possible fall-out when the next big bank topples over, the two countries said on Friday. The purchase price for Milestone could be more than $2.5 billion, according to some of the people, the Journal reported. Milestone, co-founded by NetJets Inc founder Richard Santulli, has announced plans for an initial public offering of stock, according to the report. Buying Milestone, the world’s largest helicopter-leasing company by fleet value, would broaden GE Capital Aviation Services’ portfolio beyond the competitive plane-leasing business, as it currently owns no helicopters, the Journal said.
