Major averages remained in the red in early afternoon trading Wednesday as disappointing economic data continued to weigh. The Nasdaq was down 0.1% while the Dow Jones industrial average and S&P 500 each fell 0.3%. Volume was tracking lower across the board in the stock market today compared with this time Tuesday.
